Balancing and alignment


Unbalance and misalignment are the most common faults in rotating machinery. These simple faults cost a large sum of money. Even one percent misalignment can increase the need of power with 10 %. In addition to this comes increased wear and thereby shorter life length.

In this course we discuss among other things;

  • Different types of unbalance
  • Balancing methods
  • Standards for unbalance
  • Basic alignment technique
  • Alignment methods

Theory is mixed with practical work using the best instrument on the market.

Purpose: To understand how unbalance or misalignment can be measured and taken care of.

Aim: The participants shall be able to identify unbalances or misalignment and be able to perform a balancing or alignment procedure.

Prerequisites: Experience from industrial activities.
