I am working on a problem of vibration isolation of a package of reciprocating compressor which consists all equipments (motor, control panel, indicators, coolers, dryers etc. whole package is to be isolated

rules of the game are

1) you cannot change machine weight by more than , say 100 kg
it is already 3700kg package
2) you cannot play with the design of machine because it is already manufactured and running fine. no maintenance issue s involved
3) you can not change the height, width, length of machine (it is a package consisting all accessories)
4) you cannot choose your own mounts. mounts are already selected.
5) you can choose no. of mounts to be used. but it should be less than 12, 13.
6) you cannot place mounts anywhere you want. places are restricted due to design / assembly issue, reachability issue.
7) anyone helping me gets a prize through e mail attachment

icon_cool.gif deadline is 20june2008 ( okay okay, if you want only the prize you can still ask for it, it can change your life, no jokes)
9) if anyone is interested in sharing some knowledge plz ask your questions here icon_exclaim.gif

mounts can bear 400kg load
we have problem in equal loading
few have load 50 kg 100kg 300kg 350kg 400kg etc

mounts have natural freq 18Hz
motor freq is 25Hz

peaks are there at 25, 50, 75 Hz

vibrations generally go up in region 600Hz to 8000Hz (don't know why

anyone expert sitting there?
just tell me how to check for is there any soft foot or not?

misalignment due to presence of torsionally flexible coupling will give less vibrations or not? (i heard , generally, misalignment doesn't contribute much to the vibrations and we did it in 60 microns , cold and we have a good coupling which can sustain even 1 mm misalignment)

how mounts are selected? (i hope this will give idea about how much effective my mounts are)

any idea how to calculate force which is transmitted to ground? ( i don't know transmissibility and also the original force. so how to calculate it?)

one more piece of information : we changed mounts once. it had zero effect on vibration levels above the plane of mounts.
so another question : whether vibration level above the plane of mounts will change or not?

questions questions questions
i want answers

do u suggest any book / paper/ jouranal which will help me understanding the situation?
i referred many books but they all were on maintenance of machine.
this machine is good. no need of maintenance problem

you can directly contact me on +919833176366 or shqntqnu @ gmail . com
or post here

(btw thank u team for setting this up)
