Dear All,

I'm posting this as I believe it can prove to be a service to all.

I completed a PdM survey for a client in GA. I had some machines that stood out and required detailed analysis and a formal report with action items for planned scheduled maintenance.

Olov had just sent me a ME-42 so I did not use it for the PdM task. Once I finished the survey and completed the formal PdM report (the formal report detailed all faults with recommendations), I went back into the field with the ME-42 to run it through its paces and see what it would produce. It has an evaluation mode for diagnositcs based on ISO 10816-1. I collected the data and stored plus let it do its 'evaluation'. The auto-diagnostic portion of the analyzer came through like a rose and posted the exact same conclusions that I had obtained via the real time analyzer and manual 'Sam' diagnosis.

The ME-42 was spot on! If you own a calculator and are an engineer involved in machinery in any way you can't afford to be without one of these: it's a no brainer! It's priced so that any field engineer can own one or any company can outfit its personnel to make them armed - locked and loaded.

I though everyone would like to know about this technology and that it works.

Sincerely,

Sam Pickens

Dear Sam and All Others,
When I first tested the ME42 I got somehow annoyed. I felt it's just like an insult that a small 400 gram box can think as good as I do after a quarter of a century vibration testing and machinery analysis.

I had given the box to my colleague, an office worker, who knows nothing about vibration for sure. I asked him to check out on few machines we have at our office for training. He came back with 100% accurately found faults.

I got mad and took the instrument to my place. First checked out an a perfect room air conditioner. It said, there doesnt seem to be any faults!!
So I went on banging on the fancoil with the back of a spoon. And guess what the ME42 came out with: "Resonance"!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,
Mansor.

As long as you donīt bang on the poor instrument I am happy.
Donīt bang on the messenger, knock test the machine icon_smile.gif
Mansor,
I think part of the reason is that there are 25+ years of
experience inside it...... But still it is Basic and bad problems will
always need human support. Olov

I'll have to add a little. Generally the more one uses something and the more you know about it - the more you know about its disappointments. With the ME42 I'm still on an upward spirial. The more its used and the more you know the better you like it. Truly an innovative product.

One more thing further: I also utilize CSI's 2120 with RBMware 4.9 (latest). My bottom line thing is the report that goes out. That's the communication to success and to get things done. And I've ended up with planned scheduled maintenance. I have reports where the CSI was the tool for data acquisition and display and reports where the ME42 was utilized and their data presented in the report - bottom line is: the final report was equal and basically the same both producing the same final results. If the ME42 had a large memory (enought to handle 3 hrs acquisition before dump) I would possibly perfer it. It does a good job. I'm after quality over speed. Quality produces results.... speed produces failure and/or egg on you face or poorly called shots.

Again, the more you use it, the better you like it!
